What’s the point of holding a grudge?

Why am I chided for being easy to forgive and forget?

There’s no point in holding on to anger, harboring it deep inside. You are the one to suffer from this affliction, and no one else. You are the one filling your life with hate, or disappointment, or regret. You’re doing it to yourself. You’re filling your life with negativity. You are dwelling on a tarnished past. How are you not then just as guilty as the one who “caused” you to feel this way in the first place?

I’m not saying that what anyone does or did was right or wrong or otherwise. That is not for me to decide. What I am saying is that you can continue to let them hurt you, endlessly remaining in that moment they hurt you, or you can just let it go. To me, a grudge represents that feeling when you don’t know how to respond to a situation. But it’s really so clear. You can either cut that person, that situation, that group out of your life completely, or you can alter how you interact with them. That’s it. Sure, it’s a tough decision, but that is what ultimately is keeping you from moving on.

Why keep yourself filled with anger? Come out of that darkness and realize that you have control over your feelings. Choose happiness. Choose a new beginning. Just let it go.
