// Inspiration
For my second collection, I went just down the hill from my neighborhood over to the area called the Marina. It’s an inspiring area, alive with youth and beauty. Of course there are a lot of restaurants and bars there, but I went even further down the hill to the water. When you stand there, even for just a minute, you can’t help but be overtaken by this city. Nevermind the crowds, you are surrounded by natural wonder with the blue water right before you and the Golden Gate bridge gleaming in the distance. It blows you away. Literally.
This line is made for those sunny but breezy days down by the water. There are lot of experiments with volume and shape and an emphasis on simple elegance. I also wanted to keep it wearable and adaptable to any situation, so I chose to work mostly with cottons and easy-to-wear silks. You can take these clothes right from a picnic at Crissy Field to a nice dinner date on Chestnut. You’re on the move and so are these clothes!
This is also the first collection for ALEX&RA that includes dresses!
It was definitely overdue and I really enjoyed making them. Little touches of detail and delicate pleating are my favorite design elements right now. They make each piece so special. I can see these being worn to weddings or even in weddings! They are incredibly feminine and considering they can be easily customized, the possibilities are endless!
